AMD-powered AWS EC2 instances give customers the ability to run general purpose, memory intensive, burstable, compute intensive, and graphics intensive workloads. Choosing the m7a family unlocks the latest in processor performance, while the m6a family achieves maximum cost-performance on hourly compute costs.
AMD-based instance types can be identified by the 'a' in the name before the period (.) and size. For example, t3a.large indicates an AMD-based equivalent instance type to the Intel-based t3.large.
Choosing AMD For Better Performance
Amazon EC2 M7a instances are powered by 4th Generation AMD EPYC processors, deliver up to 50% higher performance compared to M6a instances.
